Profile

Nazmul Hossain was one of the few Bangladeshi pacers who shot into fame after the 2007 U-19 World Cup. His stock delivery is the one that comes in but can surprise the batsman by getting a delivery to straighten suddenly from the same line. He fell out of favour after playing just one Test match against India in 2004 but continued playing in the shorter format of the game. He was looked upon as an ODI bowler than a Test bowler. The swinging conditions in England seemed to suit his bowling and he made his ODI debut in the 2004 Champions Trophy in England. He picked up a four wicket haul in only his third ODI, against New Zealand. He was out of contention soon and was out of the team for more than two years. He made a comeback in 2008 but failed to impress enough to make him a regular member of the squad. He continues to be on and off the team, struggling for a permanent place.

His biggest moment came in the game against Sri Lanka during the Asia Cup. He scalped the wickets of Dilshan, Jayawardene and Sangakkara and never let Sri Lanka get away with the game. Because of this performance Bangladesh won the match and made it to the finals of the tournament. However, they lost the finals to Pakistan and since then Nazmul has not played a single ODI or a Test. He last played a T20I against Netherlands in July 2012.
