Born in Bangalore, Sreenath Aravind, uniquely, bowl left-arm medium fast and spin. He made his first-class debut during the 2008-09 season after escaping a career-threatening road accident and continued to do well in the subsequent seasons. An impressive run earned him an IPL contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011. He played a 14 games from 2011-2012 and picked up 21 wickets, including a 4-wicket haul.

However, he was expensive and was not preferred again. Good show in 2011 forced the selectors to name in the squad for home series against England the same year but he did not get a game.
He was injured soon after and was not able to participate in the 2012 IPL. Injury concerns kept him out of the side for the next few years although he toiled hard in the domestic circuit and has been a major part of the Karnataka Ranji team. He played a crucial role in their successful Ranji Trophy campaign in 2014-2015.

When Adam Milne was ruled out of the 2015 IPL, Aravind replaced him in the RCB team. Aravind was selected in the team for RCB's home game against KXIP and was fantastic in the match. He picked up 4 wickets for 27 runs, thoroughly crippling the KXIP middle order.
