Profile

Lokuhettige has been termed as a powerful lower order batsman who can bowl decent seam-up. He was also regarded as one of the first T20 specialists from Sri Lanka. During his school days, Lokuhettige captained Asoka Vidyalaya in Colombo but his first breakthrough came when he joined Bloomfield and met Ruchira Palliyaguru who recommended him to the Sri Lankan fast bowling academy. He got his first national cap during the 2005 Indian Oil Cup, he scored 21 against India. After playing around 8 games a side strain ruled him out of the tours of New Zealand and Australia.

However, the selectors had trust in him as they named him in the 20-man training pool for the inaugural T20 WC in South Africa but he didn't make it to the final squad. He was later picked to play two T20Is against Zimbabwe and Canada. He performed decently in the both the matches but was still dropped from the side. Another comeback was on the cards, this time during the tri-series in West Indies in 2013, there too he played only one game before vanishing again from the national side.
