Dean Headley

England

Profile

Dean Headley hails from a strong cricketing family. His grandfather, George Headley, often dubbed as 'The Black Bradman' figured in 22 Tests for West Indies, while his father, Ron played for both West Indies and Derbyshire. A robust pacer, capable of seaming the ball both ways, Dean Headley played 15 Tests, collecting 60 wickets with his best bowling figures of 6-60 coming against the Aussies in Melbourne.

Headley was given an ECB central contract in 2000 but persistent injuries brought about a premature end to his international career. Had injuries not played such a profound role in his career, he would have become a potent strike bowler.
