Profile

Born on 21 January 1985, Riaz Afridi is yet another Pakistan cricketer who failed to make the transition from U-19 cricket to the international game. The star of the victorious 2004 Under-19 World cup winning team, Afridi has featured in just one Test for Pakistan.

A genuine bowling all-rounder, Afridi broke into the Pakistan Test team on the back of a consistent performance for North West Frontier province. He took 2 wickets on debut against Sri Lanka in Karachi but was suspected for an illegal bowling action. Further injuries took the toll on his career and he was overlooked subsequently.

Afridi joined the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) in February, 2007 and was subsequently banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board. He is back in the domestic circuit though after the ban was withdrawn.
