Louis van der Westhuizen is a left-handed batsman and spinner who first represented Namibia at the Under-19 level. He was a part of the 2006 Under-19 World Cup taking six wickets in the competition, including an impressive 3/34 against Sri Lanka. He also opened the batting throughout the tournament. Before the World Cup, in the Qualifiers, he was just as outstanding, picking 9 wickets in 5 games.

After making his first-class and List A debuts for Namibia in 2006, he has been a regular part of the squad. He made his T20 debut in 2010 against Uganda and has been an important part of that side as well. He has scored over 1000 runs in First-class and List A cricket and over 800 runs in T20s.
