Jatinder Singh | Oman captain: Extremely proud of the unit, the way they came up and executed the plans. Very proud of how they showed their character in crunch situations. The hype of the tournament was somewhere in the mind. As I've mentioned before, we lack experience and exposure. We have the World Cup Qualifiers in Oman, the boys are ready. I was telling him, that has become your favourite dismissal (talking of Jiten Ramanandi and his run-outs). He is a utility player and a team man. We are grouped with PNG and Samoa. Boys are ready and looking forward to the tournament.
Sanju Samson | Player of the Match: It was humid and hot out there. Working on my fitness on the last few weeks. We just got a new trainer and did the Bronco test. Good to see I got to spend some time in the middle. They bowled reallt well. Have to give credit to Oman. Bowled well in the powerplay also, were swinging it upfront. I keep backing my strength to stay positive. Any contribution with the bat for your country, you have to take the positives.

167 runs is Oman's second-highest total against a full-member nation behind their 173/9 against Ireland at Al Amerat in 2019. This is also the second-highest score an Associate team has scored against India in a T20I, after Nepal’s 179/9 in the 2023 Asian Games competition.
A nice gesture from Suryakumar Yadav here. As the players are walking off the field, Surya gathers the entire Oman team and the support staff in a huddle and share his two cents with them. Would be extremely heartening for these associate nation players to have the former world number 1 T20 batter talk and advice them. Everyone claps off the Indian skipper now and they pose for a group photo with him. Lovely to see these scenes from the Asia Cup.
22:31 Local Time, 18:31 GMT, 00:01 IST: Oman have given a great account for themselves here against the reigning world champions. They fall short by 21 runs and the target always looked too stiff, but Oman have stepped up and competed toe to toe against one of the behemoths of world cricket. The Oman openers put together a stand of 56 runs, as they played out the powerplay. Jatinder Singh chopped one back onto his stumps against Kuldeep, and many expected the floodgates to open but Aamir Kaleem and Hammad Mirza had different plans. Both batters got fifties and added a 93-run partneship for the second wicket. Both set batters fell towards the end, and India had enough of experience and application to see this match through. Stick around for the presentations.
