India have taken a 1-0 lead in this 5-match series. A one-sided encounter today, something that most of us didn't expect. 12 overs | 67 runs | 5 wickets - that's how England's batters fared against the Indian spinners. That will be the major battle that'll grab a lot of eyeballs in this series.
Varun Chakravarthy | Player of the Match: I am used to see such pitches in the IPL. I know there are certain lengths which is helpful for me. I try to keep it away from their arc. Every over, bowling in Eden is challenging. The last over was very challenging, but by God's grace I was successful. I can't beat batsmen with side spin. I can only beat them with bounce. I'm still 7 on 10, still more work to do.
Suryakumar Yadav: The energy, the way we started, that set the benchmark. All the bowlers had their own plans and executed. (On picking three spinners) We wanted to stick to our strengths. All three of them are doing a wonderful job. (On Varun) He's keeping things very simple, his preparations are on point. He (Arshdeep) took the responsibility and he's been doing it consistently. There's a lot of freedom being given by Gauti bhai. We've been working hard with the fielding coach.
Jos Buttler: There was a little bit in the wicket early on and we lost a couple of wickets. He (Jofra Archer) always looks good, he's a superstar. To see him and Wood operate in tandem is exciting. Venue to venue, you got to assess the conditions quickly and play well. I am really enjoying the environment. I have always been a fan of Brendon McCullum, great to be working with him.
Abhishek Sharma: I just wanted to express myself. A special mention to the captain and coach. They have given us a lot of freedom. The way they talk to youngsters, it's tremendous. It was a double-paced wicket. Our bowlers bowled well, they were really good. I thought we would chase something around 160-170, but the bowlers bowled really well. We (other batters) were always talking to each other. I enjoy from the other end when Sanju is batting. It's about expressing myself. The plan was simple. IPL has helped me a lot. I haven't seen a team environment like this. When it's coming from the captain and coach, to play freely, it's special. The way they (England pacers) bowled, I was ready for it. I knew they were going to bowl short.

21:59 Local Time, 16:29 GMT, 21:59 IST: A thumping win for India! Almost everything went right for them. Won the toss, picked three frontline spinners unlike their opponents and skittled England out for 132. Arshdeep accounted for the openers, Varun Chakaravarthy removed Brook and Livingstone in the middle overs, Bishnoi bowled a tight spell, Axar came back well with a couple of wickets after an expensive first over. Jos Buttler top-scored with a 44-ball 68 but none of his team-mates supported him with the bat. In reply, India came out all guns blazing as England tried to attack with pace. Samson got off the blocks quickly and so did his opening partner Abhishek Sharma. The former was nipped out by Archer who also dismissed SKY in the same over. Post that, it was the Abhishek Sharma show! The left-handed opener hit sixes for fun and 68 out of his 79 runs came in boundaries (8 sixes and 5 fours). England were below-par with the bat and their bowlers were blown away.
Mark Wood to Tilak Varma, FOUR, India win by 7 wickets and with 43 balls to spare! In-angling short of length ball, Tilak Varma looks to swing it over fine leg and gets a top-edge that flies over the keeper's head
Mark Wood to Hardik Pandya, 1 run, 144kph, back of a length, the line is too straight and Pandya flicks it to deep backward square leg
Mark Wood to Hardik Pandya, no run, 150.2kph, back of a length outside off, Hardik Pandya throws his arms to slash it away, misses
Mark Wood to Hardik Pandya, no run, that's a snorter from Wood! A pacy bouncer that keeps coming with the angle, Hardik Pandya does well to sway away from the line of the delivery
Stat: 86.07% of Abhishek Sharma's runs have come in boundaries - 68 out of 79. Only Rohit Sharma's 91.53% (108/118) against SL in Indore in 2017 have had a higher share of boundaries (75+ runs).
Mark Wood to Tilak Varma, leg byes, 1 run, 144.2kph, Tilak Varma misses the flick and the ball rolls towards short fine off his pad. Wood appeals for lbw but that pitched outside leg!
Mark Wood [2.0-0-20-0] is back into the attack

Adil Rashid to Abhishek Sharma, out Caught by Brook!! End of a fantastic knock! Perishes as he tries to hit another maximum. Comes down the track to loft downtown. The googly spins away a bit and the bat turns at the point of impact. The timing goes awry and Brook comes in from long-off to catch it safely. Adil Rashid to Abhishek Sharma, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Adil Rashid to Abhishek Sharma, 2 runs, dropped! 92kph, Abhishek Sharma gets more height than distance as he looks to whip-slog over the on-side. Bethell runs in from deep midwicket but only manages to get fingertips on it
