Breaking: Travis Head has suffered a groin injury, his participation in the next Test is uncertain
15:31 Local Time, 05:31 GMT, 11:01 IST: The match has been drawn. They've decided to call time because it doesn't look like it's going to get any better. A pretty dismal finish to the game but not an unexpected one. The excitement was starting to build up and we had a couple of incredible little sessions of play today before rain had the final say. We’re only left wondering about what ifs. With India set a 275-run target and with about 40 overs realistically left before they went off, it would have made for a cracking finish had things not been curtailed today. India actually had a great morning. Australia came out with an intent to attack and it sort of backfired. Wickets tumbled quickly as India bowled with great assertion and that meant that although Australia batted and eventually declared for 89/7 after 18 overs, they wouldn’t have felt good about how things transpired. As it stands, both teams will leave The Gabba 1-1. Two more riveting Test matches to come though and the series couldn't be setup any better.
15:05 Local Time, 05:05 GMT, 10:35 IST: The rain has picked up now, chances of play seem bleak. Here's something more very interesting. A couple of journalists have already tweeted about a "big announcement". Now we're not here to make any assumptions but they did just show Kohli and Ashwin having a chat sitting next each other and it ended with Kohli giving Ashwin a hug. They continue to sit next each other and stare at the rain, Kohli even had his arms around Ashwin's shoulder. Make of that what you will, nothing more than wild speculation.
14:56 Local Time, 04:56 GMT, 10:26 IST: It's just ticked past the time they were supposed to get back out there after tea so it looks like the conditions haven't improved enough although it did seem to improve just a little some time ago. The word from the ground sadly is that the covers have been nailed down and that it looks like it's going to start pelting down heavily any moment. Anymore play is unlikely
They've taken tea as well, early lunch and an early tea. We did get close to two hours in the post-lunch session, will we get some more cricket after the break?
14:33 Local Time, 04:33 GMT, 10:03 IST: It did look dark, umpire Richard Kettleborough checks with the lightmeter and they decide it's too dark to continue. Off go for the players.. and for one last time in the Test? It has started to rain as well, so the groundstaff are quick to roll in the covers. Australia tried to make it a game with a challenging declaration, but they needed a lot of things to go their way. We'll lose time, we'll lose overs and a draw seems imminent now
Mitchell Starc to Rahul, 1 run, on a good length and slanting across the right-hander, Rahul plays with soft hands and drops it in front of point, off for a quick single

Cummins to Rahul, 3 runs, cracking shot, overpitched by Cummins - Rahul leans forward, lets the ball come and then plays a pristine on-drive, long chase from mid-on and he's back for the third
Cummins to Rahul, no run, appeal for LBW, but this was going well down leg, full and shaping into the right-hander, Rahul was looking to flick and missed
Cummins to Rahul, no run, short of a good length and at the stumps, Rahul gets right behind the line in defence
Cummins to Rahul, no run, lovely, pitched up in that channel around off, angles in and then nips away off the seam, Rahul has to play the line, gets opened up and he's lucky not to have edged it
One side looks really dark, some blue skies over at the opposite side - three slips, a gully and a FSL for Rahul
Cummins to Jaiswal, 1 run, short of a good length and just outside off, Jaiswal drops it in front of cover-point and they're off for a quick single
