Mitchell Marsh receives the trophy and joins his team-mates. The confetti goes off as they pose for the photographs. It's Marsh's first ODI series win as captain. Australia completely outplayed India in Perth where the pitch had a lot of pace and bounce. The second ODI was a lot more closer and Australia would have been pleased with the way their youngsters stepped up. Matt Short's half-ton, Owen's power-hitting, Bartlett's bowling and Cooper Connolly's unbeaten match-winning knock were the highlights as the hosts sealed the series with a match to go. Today, Matt Renshaw notched up his maiden ODI half-century batting at a good rate by playing risk-free cricket. They looked flat while bowling today but the series was already in the bag. In Pat Cummins' absence, they've done a really good job to win the series against a strong Indian team. SCG doled out the best batting pitch of the series and India brought out their A-game. Australia 2 - 1 India and it's curtains down on this ODI series. The 5-match T20I series commences on Wednesday (October 29th) and we'll bring you all the action. For now, it's goodbye...
Mitchell Marsh | Australia captain: We have seen Rohit and Virat do that for the last 10 years for a lot of teams. We needed one more partnership towards the back end, awesome learning for our young guys. India were too good. A lot of learnings for us. India are the number one team in the world, so to get the job done in the first two games is something that we can be really proud of as a team and as we keep moving forward. I'm really proud of the whole team.
Shubman Gill | India captain: We almost had a near-perfect game. They got off to a good start, but I think the way we pulled it back in the middle overs and then the way Harshit went about, it was pretty pleasing to see. (Pleased with) How how our spinners came in in the middle overs and then the fast bowlers came in and took those crucial wickets. Harshit has been someone who's been coming in and bowling fast for us in the middle overs. On such wickets, you need someone like him. (On Kohli and Rohit) They've been doing it for so many years. It's such a delight to watch them both bat and especially when they both finish the innings. (On his first ODI win as Indian captain) A special feeling and a good win for us here.
Rohit Sharma | Player of the Match and Player of the Series: That's what you expect in Australia. It's not going to be easy, the bowlers are quality. You've got to understand the situation, understand the condition and see what best you can do. And that is what I was trying to do whenever I had the opportunity in the middle. I haven't played for a long time, I had good prep before coming in here. I was slightly confident in my head about how I would go in this tournament. Although, you know, we couldn't win the series, but we'll take a lot of positives. It's still a very young team that we have. A lot of guys who haven't been to Australia. When I came for the first time in this squad, I remember how the seniors around me were there to help us. And it's our job now to make sure that we pass on the right message. Never easy travelling abroad and playing cricket. So, whatever little experience that we got, it's important to pass on that and make sure they handle it pretty well. The guys are pretty talented. It's just about understanding how they want to play. When you come to places like this, you need some game plan in your mind before you start. It is important to do that. I've come here so many times. I still go back to the basics of playing cricket. And then, that is something that I feel that I need to pass on to these guys. I love playing in Australia and in general, Sydney. It's a great ground, great crowd, great pitch as well. So, when you come to places like this, you want to challenge yourself as a batter, as a player. And that is what I expected. I never thought for one second that it is going to be easy. I love doing what I do. And I hope I continue to do that.
Virat Kohli: You might've played international cricket for a long time, but the game shows you ways (on his ducks in the first two games). Almost 37 (years old) in the next few days, but chasing always brings the best out of me, nice to have a big match-winning partnership (with Rohit). I think from early on, we've understood the situation well, that's what we've always done well (as a pair), we're probably the most experienced pair now, but back in the day when we were young - we knew we could take the game away from them with big partnerships. I think it all started in 2013 (the home series against Australia), if we put up a big partnership, play around 20 overs, we know we'll go a long way in helping the team win and even the opposition realise it. We've loved coming to this country, we've played some good cricket, thank you guys for coming in big numbers and supporting us.
Rohit Sharma: I have always loved coming here, and enjoyed playing cricket at this venue (in Sydney). Brought back nice memories of 2008 (his first tour of Australia), it was fun, don't know if we're going to come back (as cricketers), but I've enjoyed every bit. We've enjoyed playing cricket regardless of all the accolades over the years. Forget about what happened in the last 15 years, I've always loved playing here, I think it'll be the same for Virat as well. Thank you Australia.
21:12 Local Time, 10:12 GMT, 15:42 IST: A consolation win for the Indians and they avoid a series whitewash. It was the bowlers who set up this win. Shubman Gill lost yet another toss but he was happy to field first even though the stats said a different story at this venue. The Aussies got off to a brisk start but India managed to pull things back. Siraj dismissed Head in the final over of the first powerplay, the finger-spinners (Axar and Washington) kept it tight and then it was Harshit Rana's crucial spell (4/39) that restricted the hosts to a below par total as they got bundled out for 236. In reply, India got off to a superb start as they scored 68 in the first 10 overs without losing a wicket. Hazlewood nipped out Gill and that brought the two experienced batters together. Most of the pre-series talks revolved around Rohit and Kohli and the two veterans didn't disappoint their fans today. The atmosphere was electric at the SCG and it seemed like a home game for the visitors. Almost every run was cheered and Ro-Ko hardly put a foot wrong. Kohli recorded his 75th ODI fifty and then surpassed Sangakkara to become the second highest run-getter in ODIs. Rohit, meanwhile, raised his 33rd ODI century. They put on a masterclass and stitched an unbeaten 168-run partnership as India romped home with 11.3 overs to spare.
Nathan Ellis to Kohli, FOUR, deftly done! Dug in short by Ellis, Kohli waits for it and plays really late as he ramps it over vacant first slip. Third man fails to stop it and India win the third ODI by 9 wickets. Kohli and Rohit exchange a hug!
