That brings us to an end of our coverage of the Test series. Ireland showed good fight especially in the second Test but they need to improve with both bat and ball if they are to really challenge the opposition in sub-continental conditions. We have a T20I series to look forward to between these two sides which will begin in a few days' time. Join us for all the excitement and thrill! For now, you can switch tabs and catch all the live action on the India vs South Africa second Test. Until next time, goodbye and cheers!
Shanto has been presented the trophy and he is all smiles! He poses for photographs with his teammates behind the winner's hoarding.
Najmul Hossain Shanto: I would like to congratulate the Ireland team for batting so well especially in these conditions. Taijul and Hasan Murad bowled really well for us and I'm happy with their performances. This is what we always want, before this series we had plan that our top-order should bat well and that is what we did. We always wanted to play Test cricket, in the last 2-3 years, we have been playing a lot of Test cricket and that's good. In Bangladesh, the crowd always supports us. Even if we lose, they support us, that is what we want that they support us always.
Taijul Islam has been presented the Player of the Series award for his terrific performance with the ball. The interview was conducted in Bangla and hence, we couldn't translate it for you all.
Mushfiqur Rahim | Player of the Match: Thank you so much and thanks to Allah for giving me this opportunity. I have played so far 100 (Test matches) and I want to play a few more. I really enjoy each and every moment, I'm really lucky to play 100 Tests for my country, I felt like I played my first game. I'm really lucky to share everything I can with my teammates. As a young player, now I'm no more younger to be honest, I'm a senior player and it's my job to guide the youngsters. I'm sure they will learn from me and the others as well and hopefully, we can take Bangladesh cricket forward.
Mushfiqur Rahim has been presented a few awards in acknowledgement of playing his 100th Test match for Bangladesh.
Andrew Balbirnie: At the start of the day (final day of the Test), the main word we talked about was fight. The application from Curtis and Gavin was terrific, especially from Curtis but eventually we were outplayed. It (the surface) actually played a lot different than what we expected. It did turn at the start but not that much, it was a pretty good cricket wicket. That was probably the difference between the two teams, their top-order got big runs in both the Test matches. When you get in, you need to convert it into hundreds. We have some T20 cricket to look forward to, we are happy to play cricket in a country which is so much passionate about its cricket.
13:53 Local Time, 07:53 GMT, 13:23 IST: It was a terrific resistance from Ireland today but the lower order had too much to do. The talk after yesterday's close of play was that Bangladesh would run through Ireland on the morning of Day 5 to take the final four wickets but Campher & Co. had other ideas. Campher batted with a lot of grit and determination and also found support from the lower order. The hosts managed to take a couple of wickets in the first session. But then the application that followed from Campher and Hoey was top-notch. Murad though took two wickets in two balls to finish things off. It was a convincing win for Bangladesh eventually but they were made to sweat for it. Taijul and Hasan Murad were the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh in the fourth innings as both of them took 4-fers. Earlier, Mushfiqur and Litton set up the game with centuries in the first innings. The highlight was Mushfiqur's ton as the veteran made his 100th Test match memorable. Kudos to Ireland for fighting so hard especially in the later half of the game. Stick around for the presentations...
Hasan Murad to Humphreys, out Bowled!! Knocked him over! That's the end of the resistance from Ireland! Two in two for Hasan Murad to finish things off in style! Floated on a fuller length on middle, turning away, Humphreys leans ahead to block but gets beaten on the outside edge. The ball goes onto crash into the off-stump. A comprehensive victory for the hosts eventually but they were pushed to the core. Bangladesh win the 2-match series 2-0. Humphreys b Hasan Murad 0(1)
Hasan Murad to Humphreys, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!
Matthew Humphreys, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Hasan Murad to Gavin Hoey, out Lbw!! Gavin Hoey has been trapped in front but after a consultation with Curtis Campher, he eventually decides to review just before the timer runs out. Looked adjacent to the naked eye. Was a length delivery around off that came in with the arm, Hoey leaned ahead to block but played down the wrong line and got beaten on the inside edge to get pinged on the pads. UltraEdge shows a gap between bat and ball. Over to ball-tracking and it returns three reds. That would have hit the middle of middle. Stubborn resistance from Hoey comes to an end. Gavin Hoey lbw b Hasan Murad 37(104) [4s-4]
Hasan Murad to Gavin Hoey, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
DRS!
Hasan Murad to Gavin Hoey, no run, coming in with the arm and on a back of a length on middle and leg, Gavin Hoey hangs back and tucks it towards mid-wicket
