A thumping win for Zimbabwe that will dampen all the joy of winning away in Australia for Pakistan. It was a fairly placid surface and the hosts started well, but their innings stuttered in the middle overs. Salman Agha came in and picked three overs, as Faisal Akram and Aamir Jamal claimed their maiden ODI wickets as well. Zimbabwe were 125/7 at one stage but then Ngarava and Sikandar Raza stitched together some valuable runs to get their team total past 200. In reply, Pakistan lost both their openers to Muzarabani, and then Raza struck twice in an over while Sean Williams picked up two as well to leave Pakistan reeling at 60/6. The pitch started to turn and Pakistan’s middle order struggled, and then the rain came to hasten the result. A first loss for Rizwan as ODI captain, and it is one that will sting for quite a while. Stick around for the presentations.
16:27 Local Time, 14:27 GMT, 19:57 IST: And the inevitable has happened. The rain has had the final say. Zimbabwe have won this game by 80 runs on DLS.
15:42 Local Time, 13:42 GMT, 19:12 IST: Nothing positive to report, folks. The rain is back and it is steady. We are in for a lengthy delay.
15:34 Local Time, 13:34 GMT, 19:04 IST: We'll have the next update five minutes from now. Seems like the rain has subsided but the outfield is still fairly wet. We'll keep you posted.
15:11 Local Time, 13:11 GMT, 18:41 IST: The covers are still in place and the rain continues to pour. It isn't heavy but it is persistent. And just a reminder, there are no floodlights at this venue so that reduces out cut-off time for this game.
14:39 Local Time, 12:39 GMT, 18:09 IST: The groundsmen are scampering with the covers as it has started to rain out of nowhere. Not too heavy but the game will have to be stopped. Zimbabwe will be well ahead of DLS, so they wouldn't mind this delay too much.
