Finn Allen

An explosive top-order batter in the limited-overs formats, Finn Allen made his T20I debut against Bangladesh at Hamilton in March 2021. It wasn't a great start as Allen was dismissed for a duck in his very first international match. However, he bounced back quickly. In the third T20I of that series in Auckland, Allen played a breathtaking knock, smashing 71 off just 29 deliveries at a staggering strike rate of 244.82, laced with 10 boundaries and three sixes.

Allen notched up his maiden T20I century against Scotland at Edinburgh, showcasing his immense hitting ability. His knock powered New Zealand to a massive total of 225, eventually sealing a comfortable 68-run win. While he followed that up with a few inconsistent outings in T20Is, Allen also showed promise in ODIs, contributing useful knocks. The aggressive opener can dismantle any bowling attack on his day.

In the Big Bash League 2025-26 season, Allen enjoyed a phenomenal run, finishing as the leading run-getter of the tournament. He combined aggression with improved consistency, dominating bowlers in the powerplay and converting starts into substantial scores. His ability to take control of games early made him one of the standout performers of the competition.

Allen carried that rich vein of form into the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where he emerged as one of New Zealand’s most consistent batters. Unlike previous tournaments, he found a balance between aggression and composure, delivering regular contributions at the top of the order. His consistency provided stability to New Zealand’s batting lineup while still maintaining his trademark attacking approach.

Finn Allen, now part of Kolkata Knight Riders, is expected to play a key role as an explosive opener.
