Profile Summary

A lanky fast bowler who can bowl with a speed of above 140kph regularly, Ben Sears made his international debut for New Zealand back in 2021 in the shortest format. Sears made his debut against Bangladesh, however, he wasn't that effective in subcontinent conditions. The young pace bowler has been in-and-out of the New Zealand team since his arrival at the international arena, but hasn't been able to make a mark yet. With the presence of other experienced and skillful pacers in the NZ team, Sears needs to up his game and needs to be consistent in order to cement a place in the playing XI. He does have pace, but hasn't been able to pick wickets at the international level. Sears made his ODI debut in the Tri-series which involved New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa, however, he wasn't able to make an impact in the first two ODIs of his career either. With age by his side, Sears still has a long way to go. If he works harder on his fitness and skills, we might get to see Sears feature regularly for New Zealand in future.
