Profile Summary

A teen sensation who had become popular even before playing a single game for her country. Amelia Kerr, a 14-year-old leg-spinner, gained recognition when a video of her bowling surfaced on YouTube. The potential was clearly evident and the New Zealand selectors wasted no time in fast tracking her to the national team.

In November 2016, Kerr made her One-Day debut against Pakistan, where she picked up six wickets in four games. However, her best performance was against Australia, the leg-spinner playing only her second ODI versus the rivals, picked up four wickets, which included the wickets of - Meg Lanning, Elyse Villani, Alyssa Healy, though New Zealand lost, Kerr had announced herself to the world.

The grand-daughter of former New Zealand Test cricketer Bruce Murray, Kerr was picked for the 2017 World Cup. Some might feel it was a bit too hasty from the selectors point of view, but not coach, Haidee Tiffin, who said, \"Not at all. Her skill set is exceptional. She can get world class players out.\"

New Zealand are marked as one of the favourites heading into the 2017 World Cup and Kerr will have a part to play, if her country has to go the distance.
