Profile Summary
Spencer Johnson is a strong left-arm pace bowler who represents South Australia in Australian first-class cricket. He made his debut against Victoria in 2017 and was given a rookie contract by South Australia in the 2017-18 domestic season.
Struck by injuries like most fast bowlers, Johnson spent time off the field thereafter and returned to South Australia's squad in 2020/21. A first-class debut followed soon and Johnson's hit-the-deck style while clocking over 140kph started to turn heads.
He was a part of the Adelaide Strikers in 2020/21 but his BBL debut only came in 2022/23 for the Brisbane Heat. He was called up for the Australian side for a T20I series against South Africa and he made his debut in series. An ODI debut followed soon in a series against India. He also earned a contract to play for the Oval Invicibles in The Hundred and bagged a lucrative IPL deal to play for the Gujurat Titans in 2024.
