Profile Summary

Uncapped Delany hit headlines when he was included in Ireland's T20I squad for the home series against Zimbabwe. The leg-spinner didn't have an impactful debut conceding 25 runs in his two overs but managed to retain his place in the team. A couple of months later, Gareth made his presence felt by putting up an all-round show (maiden T20I fifty and bagged two scalps) in front of his home crowd in the third game of the tri-series featuring Scotland and Netherlands. With 10 points, the hosts topped the points table and secured the title. In the ICC Men's T20 World Cup qualifier held in the UAE, the all-rounder was the third highest-run getter for Ireland with 150 runs and also bucketed 9 wickets with an economy of under 7. Ireland finished third in the tournament and thereby qualified for the 2020 T20 World Cup.
