Profile Summary

Right-arm medium-fast bowler and a decent batsman, Ben Charlesworth made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire at a tender age of 17. Against Warwickshire playing his first-ever match, Charlesworth did not put up a worthy enough show, as he was dismissed for scores of 1 & 5 in the respective innings. He wasn't able to pick any wickets either as Gloucestershire faced defeat by an innings and 47 runs.

He was a part of the England Under19 team that played against India U19 and Bangladesh U19 in the Tri-nation series in July-August 2019, and the youngster impressed with the bat in a couple of matches - each against India and Bangladesh. Opening the innings for England U19, he scored a steady fifty against India U19 and as a result of the foundation laid by him, the hosts won the contest by 5 wickets having chased 257 in the 50-over contest. Against Bangladesh U19 in the same series, he scored 68 as an opener, but unfortunately, England U-19 finished on the losing side.

One of his considerable performances in the County Championship came against Middlesex where he excelled with both - bat and ball. Charlesworth played a patient knock of 77* and bagged three wickets in the same match. Charlesworth who is yet to turn 20, has a technically sound technique and his ability to take wickets, make him a valuable all-rounder. According to his contract, he'll be a part of Gloucestershire at least till 2021.
