Profile Summary

If journeys don't inspire you, Pappu Roy's life journey so far is one such, that will. Coming from a very humble background, Pappu Roy has had to struggle quite a lot to get where he is right now. Hailing from Kolkata, Pappu started his career as a left-arm pacer before he switched to slow left-arm orthodox. It was due to a shoulder niggle that his Howrah Union coach Sujit Saha
recommended him to switch to spin. However, it was before Sachin Tendulkar's 199th Test match when he decided to turn to a spinner from a pacer. At Eden Gardens, Pappu Roy was one of the net bowlers against Sachin and after having bowled to the Master himself, Pappu decided to change from pace to spin - one of the best decisions in his career.

In the last 5 overs, Pappu Roy has made tremendous improvements as a bowler and on his Deodhar Trophy debut, the young spinner bagged a 3-wicket haul - Shreyas Iyer, Manoj Tiwary and Krishnappa Gowtham being his three wickets. Roy will be a part of Odisha in the Ranji Trophy and looking at his current form, it wouldn't be a surprise if he turns out to be one of the leading wicket-takers of Ranji season 2018-19.
