Profile Summary
Hailing from the modest town of Nadiad in Gujarat, Ripal Patel is a hard-hitting middle-order batter who occasionally also bowls seam-up medium pace. Having always dreamed of being a cricketer, Ripal took to tennis-ball cricket due to a lack of infrastructure and training facilities in his hometown. Eventually, Ripal found himself training under Vishwajeet Solanki, the man who coached fellow Gujarat teammate and India cricketer Axar Patel.
Ripal Patel made his List A debut for Gujarat in the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy and his T20 debut came a little later in the same year in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Ripal's claim to fame came in 2021 when he scored 30 runs in an over against Chhattisgarh in a Syed Mushtaq Ali game. In a game that was reduced to 5 overs a side due to rain, Ripal's cameo helped Gujarat chase 64 runs down in just 3.4 overs.
His antics at the domestic level resulted in him being picked up by the Delhi Capitals in the 2021 IPL Auction for INR 20 lakh.
