Profile Summary

David Bernard made his ODI debut in 2003 after impressing in the domestic season. He was selected as an all-rounder but he failed to do anything noteworthy in his first outing. He got three more chances in 2003 but was not impressive. It was the same in the Tests too. He was picked for only one Test against Australia and was dropped immediately after a poor performance.

He had to wait for six more years to make a return to the national side. It came in dubious circumstances. West Indies were forced to select a second string side for the Tests against Bangladesh in 2009 after the player strikes. Bernard was a member of the squad set to play Bangladesh and he made it count with three fifties in four innings. Surprisingly he went back to the fringes after the regulars returned despite being the top scorer for West Indies in the two games and has not been considered since. He also played in a few more ODIs in 2009 but did not do enough to hold on to his place.

However, Bernard continues to shine bright for his domestic side- Jamaica. Bernard was also a part of the Jamaica Tallawahs team, which won the inaugural version of the CPL.
