Profile Summary

An orthodox pacer who clocked fast medium speeds with the ability to move the ball both ways, Ian Butchart barely played much international cricket for Zimbabwe but was one of the country's key figures in fast bowling department, particularly in the years leading up to the country's full-member status. Butchart played a prominent role in the ICC trophy that was held between the associates at that point. For a man with such influence, it would have been a tragedy if he hadn't played Test cricket and hence, fittingly, his final First-class game was also his first ever Test match, at the age of 35. With the bat, Butchart could hold one end up and as his career progressed, got better in this department, eventually having two First-class tons to his name.
