Profile Summary
A right-handed opening batsman, Craig Cumming enjoyed a fine debut, scoring a solid 74 against an Australian attack comprising, Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne and Jason Gillespie. Unfortunately his maiden Test fifty proved to be his last. Despite possessing a good technique he failed to sustain the early promise and was axed from the team. He made comebacks in 2007 and 2008 but to no avail. His ODI career too did not take off.
Cumming is more remembered for being the recipient of a Brett Lee bumper(160.8kph), which rearranged the former's face in 2005. X-rays then revealed a depressed fracture of the cheekbone and a broken jaw. It was a painful blow that more or less ended his international career.
