Profile Summary
A see-the-ball-hit-the-ball kind of batsman, Salim Elahi was fast-tracked to Pakistan's ODI side without even a first-class game under his belt. Opening the batting with Aamir Sohail on his debut, he stroked his way to an unbeaten 102 versus Sri Lanka to clinch the Player of the Match award. However, Elahi failed to sustain the early promise and fell prey to inconsistency.
His highest ODI score of 135 arrived against South Africa in 2002 but was axed after Pakistan's disappointing showing in the World Cup. His Test record - 436 runs in 24 innings at an average under 20- also left a lot to be desired.
