Profile Summary

Peter Webb's international career was really brief and statistically, a disaster as well. Yet, he would relish the two Tests that he featured in, for both were New Zealand victories and iconic ones at that, coming against the formidable West Indies outfit. Both wins came in 1980 and for the next 15 years, the Caribbean boys never lost a single Test match, making those Kiwi efforts all the more priceless. Of course, this had nothing to do with Webb, who was dropped during the series and never played for the country again. The Auckland man was a dependable batsman in domestic cricket, often preferring to grind the opposition with his immaculate patience and judicious methods at the crease. He wasn't able to do the same in National colors and perhaps wasn't given the long rope either to judge that part. Nevertheless, his career even if too short, can be recollected by the man with joy for the significance of those matches.
