Profile Summary
A lanky quick, Tony Gray was unfortunate to be born in the wrong era: that of Malcom Marshall, Patrick Patterson, Ian Bishop, Courtney Walsh and Courtney Ambrose. Gray featured in 5 tests and 25 ODIs for impressive returns of 22 and 44 respectively but it was not good enough to warrant a permanent place in the XI. Being injury-prone did not help his cause either. When he hit his rhythm though he was capable of bouncing out rival batsman.
In addition to playing for Surrey in English County cricket, Gray also represented Western Transvaal in South Africa. After retiring from all forms of competitive cricket, he provided radio commentary in the Caribbean.
