Profile Summary

A bustling pacer, Nixon McLean made his Test debut against England under dubious circumstances with the first Test at Kingston getting abandoned just after a hour's play due to dangerous playing conditions. McLean figured in 18 more Tests with only modest success as evidenced by his career best figures of 3-53.

He also struggled to gain a foothold in ODIs, taking just 46 wickets in 45 encounters. He would have achieved much more had he blended sheer pace with a bit of control. On the back of some impressive displays for South African side Kwa-Zulu Natal, he found his way back into the 2003 West Indies World Cup squad. His knowledge of the South African conditions amounted for nothing as both McLean and West Indies misfired badly.

After drifting away from the international scene, McLean played for Somerset and Canterbury.
