Profile Summary

Tsolekile, a man who plays decent football, played hockey for the National side but chose cricket as his main profession. The decision was made once he got a scholarship to Pinelands school. During his school days he broke plenty of records which were set by the great Jacques Kallis. He also captained the South African team in the U-19 World Cup in 2003.

Tsolekile impressed the selectors with his glovework and compact technique with the bat. He was picked for the A tour to Australia in 2003, and was then drafted to the South African side in 2004. He made his Test debut against India, when Boucher was dropped controversially but played only 3 Tests before Boucher returned. Since then he continued playing domestic cricket for the Lions and scored heavily in first-class cricket. However, after the retirement of Boucher he was recalled for the tour of England in 2011 but was overlooked as AB de Villiers took on the keepers role.

Interesting Fact: Tsolekile scored a goal on his debut for South Africa in hockey.
