Profile Summary

A burly giant, when awake could bump the heavy ball at will and trouble the batsmen. Tanvir made his debut at the age of almost 32 and ended up playing only 5 Tests and 2 ODIs. His Test career kick-started in the year 2010 and he remained in the radar of the selectors till 2013. In this period, he played in the Middle East, New Zealand, Windies, Ireland and South Africa.

He played for a variety of teams at the domestic level and ended with more than 500 first-class wickets. His 85 wickets in 11 games in the 2009-10 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy propelled his selection to the national team. He also won the Man of the Match award alongside Mohammad Sami in the finale as his team Karachi Blues went onto win the championship.

The rise of other pacers like Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan and Wahab Riaz also meant Tanvir was always going to struggle even to stay in contention.
