Profile Summary
An useful right-arm off-break bowler, Adam Riley was at one stage considered for the England national team after the sudden retirement of Graeme Swann during the 2013-14 Ashes series. The then England's spinning coach, Peter Such, an off-spinner himself found Riley's action to be upright, but the team management felt that Riley was too young and inexperienced to be leading England's spin department.
Riley came up the ranks playing university cricket for Loughborough MCCU before graduating to Kent's second XI. He impressed the team management to such an extent that he was soon playing for the first XI - displacing ageing off-spinner, James Tredwell. After a solid first season in 2016, Riley took bigger strides in 2014 and ended the season with 48 wickets, thus ensuring a permanent place in the playing eleven. However, his form soon faltered and within no time had been relegated to the second eleven.
