Profile Summary
Born on September 1, 1986 in Punjab province, Zia is a hard-hitting left-handed opening batsman. Zia started his cricketing career with Jhelum district in Grade 2 cricket. He got his first opportunity of playing at the highest level when he started representing Rawalpindi in the Pakistan domestic league from 2007 onwards.
Zia came into prominence during the final of the Faysal Bank T20 Cup. Playing for the Rawalpindi Rams, the left-hander smashed 32 in just 13 balls in the final of the tournament. His hitting abilities prompted a call-up to the national team for the T20I series against England in 2012. He featured in all the three matches, scoring 47 runs in the process.
