Profile Summary
Born in Odisha, Biplab Samantray first made entry into the shortest format of the game before making his first-class debut against Baroda in 2010. He had a decent debut Ranji season while the 2012/13 season was fruitful to him. Not only he contributed well with the bat, his right-arm medium-pace was quite effective and he bagged 18 wickets apart from becoming the second highest run-getter for Odisha.
He was part of the Deccan Chargers before being transferred to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Though he got only one game in IPL-5, he played a 8 games the next season and also made a handy 55. Unfortunately, luck did not go his way in the 2014 auctions and he went unsold.
However, he continues to be an integral part of the Odisha side in the domestic circuit.
