Profile Summary
Rising through the ranks of the under-19 system and school cricket like most of the Sri Lankan players, Lahiru Madhushanka showed immense potential with his batting prowess coupled with sharp medium pace. With impressive performances in the 2012 U-19 World Cup and the SLC T20 tournament that followed in 2015, he earned a place in the ‘A’ side for the tour of New Zealand.
A debut in the national colours followed in 2017 with Madhushanka being named in the ODI squad to tour South Africa. A debut with mixed emotions followed – one where he dismissed the South African skipper in the first over itself but himself bagged a duck. But with the big-hitting abilities that he possesses, he remains one to watch out for in the future.
