Profile Summary
Akeal Hosein is a bowling all-rounder that hails from Trinidad. Known for his tight wicket-to-wicket left-arm spin and his ability to score quickly in the lower middle-order, Hosein was a part of the West Indies' squad for the 2012 Under-19 World Cup. He played domestically for Trinidad & Tobago and for the Barbados Tridents in the CPL between 2014 and 2019.
An international debut had to wait till January 2021 in an ODI series against Bangladesh and a T20I debut came quickly thereafter against Sri Lanka. He became only one of ten players to be awarded a central white-ball contract by Cricket West Indies in 2021.
Hosein was a part of both the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cup squads for the West Indies. He also plies his trade in T20 competitions around the globe and has played in the IPL, BPL, PSL, BBL and MLC amongst others.
