Profile Summary

Born in St Asaph Flintshire of North wales, David Lloyd haven't had the smoothest of introductions to competitive cricket. In his maiden appearance in County cricket, Lloyd had a nightmare as he managed a pair and got out in similar fashion in both innings. It wasn't always like that, though, for Lloyd. Regarded as a powerful middle-order batsman, Lloyd had the required bowling credentials to leap into the Glamorgan system at a very young age.

He attended the same school as England's James Taylor and debuted for Glamorgan's second XI at the age of 16 in 2008. Unfortunately for Lloyd though, it took nearly three years to become a regular member of the Glamorgan set-up, but soon after he got picked, consistency eluded him and it was only in the latter half of 2014 season Lloyd got an extended run in Glamorgan's first XI. During the 2015 County season, David Lloyd displayed great defiance and skill and ended up as the side's best batsman (in terms of average) before claiming the County's 'Young Player of the Year' award. He made steady progress in the following season, but his performances in 2017 proved to be lukewarm although he remained regular fixture of the side.

Lloyd has a knack of breaking partnerships and is a highly-valued asset for Glamorgan in the limited-overs arena. Usually a ring fielder, Lloyd is yet to (as of July 2018) score a hundred in white-ball cricket. In March 2017, Lloyd renewed his contract with Glamorgan till the end of the 2019 season.
