Young and talented, Galiem honed his skills at Cape Cobras youth set-up before graduating to play for Western Province in South Africa's domestic tier-two tournament. A promising talent, Galiem is a true all-rounder - a right-handed batsman who also bowls right-arm medium-fast. Having played cricket right from his school days at Rondebosch Boys HS, Galiem is touted to be amongst South Africa's generation next players and was rewarded with a place in the Cape Town Knight Riders squad for the first edition of Global T20 League.
