Musheer Khan Shines With Bat and Ball
Musheer Khan produced one of the standout individual performances of the latest Ranji Trophy round, making a century and then claiming six wickets for Mumbai against Haryana. His contribution helped Mumbai establish a strong position in their Elite Group D contest and highlighted his growing value as an all-rounder in red-ball cricket.
After scoring 109 in Mumbai’s first innings, Musheer returned with the ball to take 6 for 85. His spell helped dismiss Haryana for 270, giving Mumbai a first-innings lead of 160 runs and allowing the hosts to enforce the follow-on.
Haryana’s Nishant Sindhu offered determined resistance with an unbeaten 105, but Musheer’s impact across both innings made him a central figure in the match.
Parth Bhut Tears Through Assam
Saurashtra left-arm spinner Parth Bhut delivered one of the most remarkable bowling spells of the round, taking six wickets for just seven runs against Assam. His figures of 6 for 7 came from nine overs, including five maidens, as Assam slumped to 65 for 7 in their second innings.
Saurashtra had first built a useful advantage with the bat. Resuming at 156 for 4, they progressed to 387 all out, securing a first-innings lead of 106 runs over Assam’s 281. Hetvik Kotak scored 80, while Prerak Mankad added 76. Lower-order batter Arth Yadav remained unbeaten on 46, helping the hosts extend their advantage.
Bhut then took control with the ball, leaving Assam in serious trouble at the close of play. Sibsankar Roy, who had scored a century in the first innings, remained unbeaten on 32 and was the main source of resistance.
Strong Batting Contributions Across the Tournament
Several other players made significant contributions during the round. Jammu and Kashmir captain Qamran Iqbal scored 121 against Baroda, while Umran Nazir went on to register his maiden first-class century. Their efforts helped Jammu and Kashmir pass 200 after facing Baroda’s imposing total of 616.
For Himachal Pradesh, Innesh Mahajan struck 121 and Shubham Arora made 96 in a substantial opening partnership against Chandigarh, who had declared at 685 for 5.
Karnataka’s Aneeshwar Gautam registered his maiden first-class century against Tripura. Manvanth Kumar added a quick 51, and Ritesh Bhatkal finished unbeaten on 74 as Karnataka declared at 477 for 9.
Elsewhere, Vidarbha’s Dhruv Shorey scored 168 against Goa, while Rajasthan’s Karan Lamba remained unbeaten on 100 against Uttarakhand. Nishant Sindhu’s unbeaten 105 was another important innings, keeping Haryana’s hopes alive despite Mumbai’s sizeable first-innings advantage.
More Bowlers Make Their Mark
The round also featured several impressive bowling displays. Tamil Nadu’s R Sai Kishore took 4 for 39 against Railways, finishing with seven wickets in the match as Tamil Nadu secured a five-wicket win.
Kerala’s Jalaj Saxena claimed his 38th first-class five-wicket haul against Bengal. Uttar Pradesh spinner Zeeshan Ansari took four wickets against Puducherry, while Services’ Pulkit Narang returned figures of 6 for 47 against Odisha after rain disrupted the opening two days.
Manipur’s Kishan Singha also claimed five wickets against Arunachal Pradesh, adding to his two-wicket haul from the first innings.
Young Talent and Domestic Depth on Display
The latest results underline the depth of Indian domestic cricket, with established performers and emerging players contributing in different conditions. Musheer Khan’s century-and-six-wicket performance demonstrated his all-round potential, while Parth Bhut’s extraordinary spell showed how a disciplined spinner can transform a first-class match.
With several fixtures still finely balanced, the next innings will be crucial in determining which teams turn promising positions into outright victories. The performances also provide valuable opportunities for domestic players to build consistency and strengthen their credentials at the first-class level.
