Profile Summary
A right-handed wicketkeeper batsman, Richmond Mutumbami made his first-class debut for the Southern Rocks in 2007 at the tender age of 17. In the first few seasons, he struggled to make a mark but gradually began showing is true potential becoming a regular in domestic games.
From the 2010-2011 season, Mutumbami bettered his average and over the next couple of years kept his performances consistent. He was the leading run-getter in the 2012-13 Logan Cup season with 686 runs at an average of nearly 50.
This strong domestic season saw him being included in the national squad in the home series against Bangladesh in April 2013. Finally, because of Regis Chakabva being injured, he made his debut in the first Test. He had a decent showing behind the stumps but failed to do much with the bat. In the next game, however, he managed to hit a patient 42 in the first innings.
